Last week was a whirlwind of sporting activity, showcasing the diverse talents and dedication of our pupils. From climbing adventures to thrilling football matches and netball showdowns, our students excelled across the board.
Climbing Success for Year 10 Sports Studies Pupils
Over the past few weeks, Mr. Bampton and Mr. Doncom have guided our Year 10 Cambridge Nationals Sports Studies pupils through climbing sessions at Tile Barn in Brockenhurst. This hands-on experience has provided valuable learning for their course, culminating in successful assessments for all pupils involved. Well done to everyone!
Imogen's Cross Country Triumph
A massive shout-out to Year 8 pupil Imogen! Her exceptional performance at the Eastleigh & District Cross Country event in Chichester, where she finished second, has led to further success. Imogen’s consistent top-20 finishes have earned her a place in the Hampshire Schools League event in Essex. We are incredibly proud of her achievements.
Football Highlights
Our Year 8/9 Girls Football team hosted Thornden School on Monday. Despite a 4-1 loss, Emilia's outstanding goal and player's player performance highlighted their resilience.
Also on Monday, our Year 11 Boys Football team secured a 2-1 victory in a friendly against Perins School.
Tuesday saw our Year 7 boys' football team take part in a 6-a-side tournament at Toynbee School, during which they played 5 matches. The boys were crowned champions after beating Perins A (2-0 Rueben and James), Toynbee B (3-0 Wilf 2 and Reuben), Thornden B (1-0 Wilf) and Kings School in the final (4-0 Wilf 3 and Rueben). A fantastic achievement.
On Wednesday, our Year 7 girls' team travelled to Westgate school for their latest round of fixtures. In their first game, they narrowly missed a comeback against Westgate, going from 3-0 to 3-2 in the second half (Rosie and Louisa). Then they played Toynbee, with the team creating lots of chances, but eventually lost 1-0. Well done girls!
On Wednesday, our Year 8 boys' football team played a league match at Kings School. The game resulted in a 3-1 victory against the unbeaten side, putting our team 1 win away from the league title! A highlight of the game, was the best double save we've ever seen by goalkeeper Liam. Well done boys!
The Year 8 boys' football team played again on Thursday, this time in a 6-a-side tournament at Toynbee School. The boys competed really well, finishing third overall and scoring great goals along the way. They had a fantastic afternoon in the sunshine - well done boys!
The last football match of this very busy week saw our Year 11 boys playing Mayville School, Southsea, at home, for a GCSE PE game. The team were dominant and won 5-0.
Netball Success and Effort
Last week we took our Year 7 netballers to Deer Park School to play several games. Their first game was very close - 6-5; they were dominant in their second winning 16-0, but unfortunately lost their third 6-2. It was a fantastic effort from the team; well done girls!
We hosted The Kings School for an U12 and U13 Netball League fixture. Our Year 7 team gained valuable experience playing together as a team, but lost despite a valiant effort.
Our Year 8 girls won 4-3, playing well, competitively and in good spirit.

Basketball and Badminton
On Wednesday, our Year 7 basketballers played Toynbee School in a friendly. This was a great practice for the team members who will be representing Swanmore in the U14 Final soon (details TBC). The Year 7s competed well.
We hosted Perins School for a Year 10 boys GCSE PE badminton fixture. The boys competed well - well done to all who participated.
Rugby Tournament
Our Year 7 boys' rugby team travelled to Bohunt School where they played in a 7’s tournament. The team played well and gained valuable experience. They won 2 games, drew 1 and lost 1, coming third overall. The team are looking forward to more games over the next few weeks.
