Co-opted Governor

Be a part of shaping the future of Swanmore College

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit a Co-opted Governor to support the work of the Swanmore College Board of Governors and the Senior Leadership Team as we strive to deliver excellent results and experiences for our pupils.

The role of a school governor is very rewarding; it will enable you to meet new people and work as part of a team. You will gain new knowledge and skills and will be able to bring a valuable perspective to the work and governance of the board.

The governing body's main tasks are:

  • to ensure that the college has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • to monitor our results and ensure the delivery of our plans help to drive improvements in the educational performance of the College and its pupils
  • to support the staff and Senior Leadership Team in keeping our pupils safe and valued
  • to oversee the financial performance of the College, making sure its money is
    well spent.

Full training and support will be available to help you develop in the role. This will include in-house support, as well as access to external governor training.

If you can give up an average of up to 3 hours a week in term time (meetings are held mainly on Monday evenings 5 pm - 7 pm) and are willing to undertake real work in supporting the College in delivering its objectives, then we would love to hear from you.
