Languages Department - Cake Competition
We would like to celebrate the European Day of Languages, which happened on Tuesday 26 September. Pupils have already completed a variety of activities in tutor time and during their Connect session. However, we would like to carry on the celebration by having a cake design exhibition on Thursday 19 October. Please see the attached poster for further details. We look forward to seeing your cake designs!
Christmas Lunches
You should have received an email last week with information about our Christmas Lunches. These are being held in college during the week commencing 11 December 2023. Lunches need to be booked in advance and the deadline for making payment and selecting food options is Wednesday 1 November 2023. The menu is attached. Payment can be made via Scopay or by cash/cheque (made payable to Hampshire County Council with your child's name, tutor group and 'Christmas Lunch 2023' written on the reverse and on the envelope). Pupils can hand any payments and contracts to Pupil Reception.
Ski Trip Meeting
We would like to remind any parents/carers who have children attending the 2024 ski trip that there is a meeting this week, in the Main Hall at 6.30 pm on Thursday 12 October 2023.
Mobile Phones & Electronic Devices
We have attached the poster which is in all classrooms as a reminder of the College's position regarding mobile phones and electronic devices. All pupils are aware of these rules, and we appreciate parents/carers supporting us and reminding them not to use their devices during the college day:
· Mobile phones & electronic devices should not be visible anywhere on the College site between the hours of 8.00 am and 3.30 pm unless pupils are invited to use them as part of a lesson.
· Mobile phones and electronic devices must only be used in a classroom/teaching environment with the explicit permission and supervision of a teacher.
· If a mobile phone or electronic device is seen or heard it will be confiscated by a member of staff and a parent/carer will have to collect it from Visitor Reception. We will email as soon as possible to alert you of this.
· Refusal to hand over a mobile phone or electronic device to a member of staff will result in a pupil being sent to the Learning Hub.
· If a pupil needs to communicate with a parent/carer during the day, then they should go to Pupil Reception to request permission to do so (not during lessons)
We hope that this is very clear and that the sanction for those who ignore these rules is straight forward. If a mobile phone or electronic device is visible between the hours of 8.00 am and 3.30 pm anywhere on the College site, then it will be confiscated. If a pupil continues to ignore this rule, then you may choose not to collect the device immediately and we will be happy to support you in this action.
Year 7
All Year 7 & 8 pupils should now be entering the building via the Community Entrance (by the sports hall) when they come into college in the mornings. Staff members will be on duty to greet and direct them.
